Hyperion "25e" Super 3D Series ARF Models |
|
These super-light models are at the top of the 3D
aerobatic world today. Available in three scale renditions of real
aerobatic competition aircraft, you have choices of the Sukhoi SU-31, the CAP-232,
or the EDGE 540T (Edge 540 on sale Worldwide from December 2007).
Constructed of hand-picked light
balsa and ply, the fuselage, wing, and tail groups carefully follow the lines
of the full-size models, but the Hyperion engineers have stretched wing area
and control surfaces for controllable high-alpha performance at very low
flight speeds. You don't have to give up scale beauty for this
performance: The hand painted fiberglass cowls are a work of art. The pre-painted super-clear canopies
are already mounted on a wood frame, with instant-access retention systems. Battery access
in a few
seconds keeps things easy and safe...
In terms of size, the "25e" models can be related to "Engine
25" (0.25ci)
models, but the little "e" means they are 100% electric. Designed from
the "ground up" around the extremely powerful Hyperion Z3019-12 motor, you
have to experience the performance yourself to believe it. At about
200W per pound, "Unlimited Vertical" is just the beginning!
The models have extremely light wing loading in the range of 14 ounces per
square foot! Their light weight coupled, generous wing area, and
extremely rigid construction make them razor sharp performers in the 3D
arena. One test pilot said: "It's like Hyperion includes a set of 'pro
thumbs' in every box!".
These
are the kind of models that get taken out every weekend; they're just
that much fun to fly! The wings of SU-31 and EDGE 540 models are
joined by a large-diameter carbon tube, and removable in a matter of a
few seconds for easy transport to the field, and for storage at home
(CAP232 has a stong, light single-piece wing).
Bigger flies better, and these larger 3D models is also very easy to see at a
distance. That sharpens the maneuvers of any pilot, and is especially
helpful if your eyes aren't "what they used to be".
Contrasting stripes on wing bottom really help with orientation...
Please see the photos and recommended items below.
(52mm Aero-Scale spinners not included, but available
now at small additional cost.)

These models are truly "almost-ready-to-fly", with just about everything
is already completed for you. Just insert the hinges in the
pre-slotted control surfaces and CA glue them,
install servos/receiver, motor, controller and battery, screw on the cowl,
then mount the propeller. An experienced
builder can be ready to fly in three to five hours! The kits contain CAD drawings
of assembly steps.

Recommended Parts |
|
We strongly recommend that you purchase Hyperion kits
with the "power set" option, for three good reasons:
First, the models are specifically developed for the power set, and
extensively flight tested to insure both stunning performance and
perfect reliability.
When you buy the kit with power set, both the Kit and the Power Set have
discounts applied. In some cases this can amount to nearly 20%,
and you always save 10% or more on kit, motor, controller, adapter, and
connectors.
And you can't get better quality parts, anywhere, at any price... |

HYPERION
Z3019-12 Motor + TITAN 50A BEC Power Set
Here is some data using Hyperion LVX2500 Series lithium battery packs and
APC “E” series propellers. These results are from a pack which is
20% discharged, to simulate average flight conditions. Current will be higher with a freshly charged pack,
so the props listed below are MAXIMUM recommended sizes.
This is an EXTREMELY powerful system, so full
throttle is rarely used, and most of the flight is at half throttle, on
average.

**IMPORTANT
NOTE:
We do NOT recommend the 12x8 propeller,
as it has pitch speed too high to suit the intended flight envelope of
these models.
Most pilots find the power available with the 12x6 prop to be much
more than adequate, and longer flight times are possible. For
higher torque-roll rate, some pilots may prefer the 13x6.5 prop as a
maximum.
These 3D aircraft are specifically designed for
maximum performance of "3D" maneuvers at low to
medium flight speeds.
Elevator and Rudder control surfaces have very large area, to allow
full control even at very low flight speeds, and elevator and rudder
surfaces are made of thin, light balsa, to contribute to the
extremely low flying weight of the model. For any aircraft with such
large surfaces, we recommend
using only large diameter, low-pitch propellers such as the
recommended 12x6 with Hyperion motor.
